Skater Name: Sugar Schweetz

Skater number: 24

Position: Mainly Blocker, but I does what I’m told

Years Played: 3

How did you get into derby: A friend of mine from high school was playing, Lita Horde, and I thought it looked like fun and would give it a try.

How did you select your name: Eh. Just threw it together. Sugar was the name of my cat that I grew up with and I liked Venelope Von Schweetz from Wreck it Ralph at the time.

What is your day job: I’m a stay at home mom, but I also deliver for Uber, help out at my daughters school, and occasionally some babysitting.

Worst derby injury: I’ve managed to avoid the pretty serious ones. Knock on wood. I guess the worst is that I’ve sprained both of my ankles.

Tunes that get you pumped on bout day: Any upbeat, happy pop music. If you catch me driving to the game I might be singing out loud in my car.

Any current derby crushes: Sandrine Rangeon (aka Francey Pants) from Victorian. She’s amazing to me because she is into different things and she’s good at all of them. She’s done derby, hockey, the skate parks and Red Bull Crashed Ice.

Most rewarding derby experience so far: Knowing and playing with some pretty amazing women.

Favorite food: Sliced Cucumbers with lemon juice and salt.

Advice for new skaters: Crosstrain. It makes a huge difference in how you play. If you need to pass those laps, you should go speed skate. The warmups alone will make that 27/5 feel like nothing.
