Photography credit:  Rudi Holt

Skater name: Sloane Gunman

Skater number: .38spl

Position: Blocker

Years Played: 10

How did you get into derby?: Word of mouth – a bartender that used to play put me in touch with the league because she knew I was from Canada and could probably skate lol

How did you select your name?: It was actually suggested to me by former ACRD skater, Claire Voyant (Maiden Canada was already taken back when these things were monitored)!

What is your day job?: High School Business Ed Teacher

Worst derby injury?: Broken fibula and microfracture knee surgery

Tunes that get you pumped on bout day: Joan Jett, Ramones, Blondie, etc.

Any current derby crushes?: I’ve always admired Smarty Pants from TXRG. She plays smart, calm, and collected.

Most rewarding derby experience so far: Winning Midwest Derby fest in 2016 with ACRD’s Conspiracy. It was the first tournament gold for the league.

Favorite food: Poutine

Advice for new skaters?: Don’t compare yourself to others when it comes to improvement or your timeline. Everyone has a different experience on this crazy derby train.
