November 1, 2017 – November 30, 2017 all-day America/Chicago Timezone

Skater Name: Pyronormal Activity

Skater number: 473

Position: I (mostly) block

Years Played: 1 season, not even a full year yet!

How did you get into derby: I have known Hyper Nova Kane for years from when we went to UTD. Late in the 2014 season I started coming to ACRD games to support her and quickly got addicted. I tried out quads for the first time soon after, and then spent a year skating occasionally (and coming to bouts!) before I finally joined the league in April 2016.

How did you select your name: I’m a pyromaniac at heart so I knew I had to have Pyro as part of my name. Pyronormal Activity actually wasn’t my favorite option at first but it grew on me.

What is your day job: I am a high school chemistry teacher.

Worst derby injury: I had a bad (but not complete) tear in my PCL this year and was 100% off skates for 7 weeks.

Tunes that get you pumped on bout day: Queen!

Any current derby crushes: So many! At times I feel like a fan that somehow snuck onto the team… I am constantly awestruck by the level of talent I see around me.

Most rewarding derby experience so far: Skating with the Deadly Kennedy’s this season has been such an honor and a privilege. Each of them has helped me to be a better skater, and a better person.

Favorite food: Chicken Rollatini

Advice for new skaters: Work on your endurance, both on and off skates. No matter how good your skills are, you need to play well throughout the whole game to win.
