Special Ops Defeat Victory Dolls

ImageSolid defense and some explosive jams led the Assassination City to a 112-53 victory over the Oklahoma Victory Dolls Sunday night in Mesquite. In the second bout of the night, the White/Victory squad defeated the Black/Death squad 88-82.

ImageIn the first game, Assassination City's Special Ops would shut Oklahoma ten out of 17 jams in the thirty minute first half. But the key jam of the bout would be the 8th jam of the first half. Herassiz Mine would break out of the pack as lead jammer, and the team from Dallas would keep the opposing jammer in the pack and would outscore the team from Oak City 15-0 for that jam. The score would move up to 27-6, and the team in black would expand their advantage to 55-21 at half time.

The Special Ops would shut out the team in red from north of the Red River the first four jams of the second half pulling out to a 64-21 lead. The Victory Dolls would play it even until the 14th jam of the second half. Herassiz Mine would again jam, and would then pull three grand slams (five-point passes) plus an additional two blockers passed before Oklahoma could finally slow her down and the home team would score a 17-0 jam that would basically widen out the lead to 103-42. A big jam by the Victory Dolls followed up by a big jam by Assassination City and the final score would stand at 112-53.

Special Ops took on the Oklahoma Victory Dolls

The leading scorer for the Special Ops would be Herassiz Mine with 48 points. Wanda Whompya would chip in with 15 points. Wendy O'Wheels would add 11 points, and Mia Hammer would round out the scoring for the team from Dallas with 10 points. All points are unofficial. One of the top blockers for Assassination City would include Mona Bruiser, whom I recorded with four effective blocks. In this case,
she would get in front of the opposing jammer with a booty block and hold that block for at least a quarter of a lap, often allowing her defensive teammates to pass the jammer up meaning the jammer would not only have to get by the rookie blocker from Assassination City, but also have to pass up her Special Ops teammates again. Other solid blockers for the home team included Trigger Mortis and  Mary-Ate Ashley.

The top scorer for the Oklahoma Victory Dolls was Pusshy Control with 29 points. The team in red lost their second leading scorer JenATease after the first half with an ankle injury after she had scored 15 of her team's 21 points at half. Again, all points are unofficial. Top blockers for the team from Oklahoma included Frankie Facebreaker, and Critical Sass.

In the second game of the night, four leagues would divide up into two teams. Players from the East Texas Bombers, Piney Woods Roller Derby, Assassination City Roller Derby, and the Oklahoma Victory Dolls would divide up into the White/Victory squad and the Black/Death squad. A balance offensive attack would help the White team pull off an 88-82 victory in a very competitive match.

Birthday girl Aries Fury of the East Texas Bombers would score 12 points in her first two jams of the night, and the Black team would establish a 14-9 lead after four jams. Princess Panic from Oklahoma
would score five points in the eighth jam of the first half, and the hite team would take their first lead of the night-28-27. Throw in a 13-point jam for Princess Panic in the 10th jam, and the team in
white would take a 49-38 lead at half time.

Aries Fury would exploded out of the halftime break in the first jam of the second half with a ten point jam, and suddenly the bout arrowed down to a one point game, which would occur several times in
the half. In the seventh jam of the half, Aries Fury would score 12 points while Princess Panic was scoring seven points. Then Scrappy Doo from the East Texas/Piney Woods group for the Black team would follow up with a four point to get the score to 73-72 in favor of the White squad. Elle Smash from East Texas would pull the crucial jam of the game with a 9-0 run in the 9th jam of the final period for the White team Aries Fury would counter with a 4-0 jam with just a few minutes left in the game to narrow the gap to six points, but the game would end on a 6-6 jam and the White's team victory would be final at 88-82.

Leading scorers for the white team were Elle Smash of East Texas with 36 points, Princess Panic with 34 points, and Kay-O of East Texas with 18 points. Leading blockers for the White/Victory team was Lock-
N-Load Lola from Oklahoma, and Ima Hazzard from Assassination City. Aries Fury was the top scorer for the game and the Black/Death team with 49 points. Dita Von Casualties from Oklahoma would score 17 points, and Scrappy Doo from Piney Woods would add 10 points for the team in black. Top blockers included Crash McQueen of Piney Woods and Critical Sass.

It should be mentioned that some skaters were in both games with Princess Panic jamming and scoring in 100 minutes worth of bouts. And Mona Bruiser also pulled a double, and was probably the top
blocker of the night. And these were only two of the skaters who skated in the 60-minute opening bout, and in the 40-minute exhibition bout. I heard comments from a couple of the skaters who skated in
the first bout that they wished they had also skated in the second bout."
